I am watching the Granada episodes again and more I watch, more impressed I am with Jeremy Brett. The casting is truly fantastic even though I liked the first Watson better. The episode Scandal in Bohemia is so very good with Gayle Hunnicutt outstanding. What a pity Brett died. The 41 episodes are the right way to spend the lockdown.

His most iconic film role of course was that of Freddie in My Fair Lady... But his best was as you noted in the Sherlock Holmes series... I would also add The Barretts of Wimpole Street, the made for TV version of Rebecca with Brett as Maxim DeWinter and I was fortunate enought to see Brett on stage as Dracula, when he took over the role from Frank Langella. Unfortunately, as you commented he died too young.....
