Based on Albert S. Ruddy's experiences of producing The Godfather.

... reminds me Paul Newman in this. Old timey man's man leading man. Great script and cast. I keep telling my sister its more about Hollywood than the mafia. My favorite show of 2022.

Fifty years ago, when I first saw 'The Godfather' a large part of its message went over my head, because I was still young enough to be naive about corruption in politics and business. But I understand that it's all organized crime with zero moral compass.

He made Paramount Studios the #1 film studio in Hollywood. And later was involved in the Cotton Club Murder trial as a prime witness but never charged. Here's the story attached.

GREAT story, fine actors, well put together.

A very interesting tale of the times beyond making a movie.

There's also "Leave The Gun, Take The Cannoli" a book by Mark Seal that
tells the tale from a less Ruddy centric POV IF you like The Godfather.

I forget the mans name, but he was proposing that his hugely popular success proved he was a better writer that all the guys who won prizes and recognition for scholorly works.

he said if they had the skills , they would write a popular novel, get a bunch of money, and then return to serious works . he said this proved he possessed skills these serious writers lacked, since they were never as well read or remunerative as his works.

The Godfather either proved him wrong, being a singular event from a scholarly writer , or was the exception.

Mario Puzo was a serious writer?
