Guys, I could use some help. I just got a new Samsung Qled tv and I want to hook up the audio to my preamps rca input.

The tv has an optical out which I ran to a Schiit Modi multibit dac, then rcas to the pre, and all I get is a fast ticking sound. Did I miss something there?

There is also an HDMI out port, will an HDMI to rca cable to the preamp work or is some kind of converter needed?

The tv is excellent, but I like running the sound through my stereo. The preamp is a MAC c2200 with no home theatre gadgets inside.

Thanks much!

Check the Audio Settings on TV.
I had to turn ON the Optical Output.
Also Check if Stereo or Multi Channel is selected.
The wrong choice will definitely cause noise.
I suppose check DAC Prefs too, make sure things are co-ordinated.

Yes I did those things before, and the results were what I posted. There is an hdmi arc port which is supposed to be for audio, I've got to figure out what cable to use I guess

Thank you

The ARC goes into an AV processor.
I use Optical from an LG OLED, to a Dac, but I have to select it on the Dac.
I got noise when testing the Digital Out Formatswhen I tried the wrong one.
Try another Opt cable, check connections again. Probably One thing is wrong.
Your job: Find it...
Good luck!
