I recall some bad reviews, but the price is right and has SACD playback for Den / TV System.
Opinion/experience you can share?
TIA!

Is the 1100ES the best of Sony's current Blu-Ray spinners?

I bought one about six months ago, it was the only reasonable choice that offered all three for the HT system. CD,SACD and DVD.
Its ok so far, but I hate having to turn on the TV,just to see what track is playing. I also just use it as a transport into my C2600 DAC.
I have played one blue ray on it so far which looked great, but still no 4K.
Have not used it to stream as the TV has all that .

So, can you play a cd without using the tv, if you don't need the menu info?

Yes, you can play a cd or sacd with out the TV, you just can't see any track information, like what's playing, how much time left, how many tracks.
All the screen on the player tells you is ,Hello, open, close, loading, off.

Its a solidly built machine, has all the outputs I need, and can fit anywhere.

I own the Sony UBP800, a 4k, universal player. Using it as a player, it plays my various hi res sources with no problems. As a streamer, it's pretty awful. Its predecessor, equally inept. If you're not concerned with streaming, you'll probably be ok.

Just Discs, Movies and Music for me!
I mostly Stream Netflix and Amazon for Movies,
but have lots of DVDs and Blurays that I can't play now.
And I'm curious to see an actual 4K Ultra Hi Def DVD on my LG 4K TV.
When playing a CD or SACD, do you have to turn on the TV for Menus?
No use for built in Dac either, got that covered.
No streaming Music for me, except for some internet radio and that's not HiRes anyway.
