Re: Top 10 Films of 1999: "American Beauty"

Went to see "American Beauty" today. "Incredible Mr. Ripley" was the wrong time for our plans, etc.

I expected a good film from the reviews. What I didn't expect was an incredibly riveting, moving, violent and memborable experience. I related totally to this film. Perhaps it helps that I'm 50+ and have made some compromises along the way.

"Mr. Ripley" may be a great film, and I want to see it. Let's just say, I want to see "American Beauty" again. It's a rare thing for me to want to a rerun on a film, except for something like Casablanca.

This is a great film in comparison to any from any era.
