Have you seen "The Andromeda Strain", based on the Michael Crichton book? I am a microbiologist by profession and can tell you that director Robert Wise packed about as much real technology (in 1970) and techniques into this film as was possible, much like Wolfgang Peterson did in "Das Boot". The main problem is that the research they conduct in four days would probably take USAMRIID and the CDC about half a year to carry out.I was less happy with some of the science in Crichton's "Jurassic Park", but definitely a fun special effects flick.
