There were approximately 124 studio releases of sci-fi films in the 1950s;
considering there were 120 months in that decade, there would have been
slightly more than one film a month released on average for ten straight
years - a highly prolific period no doubt! Sure, many were dogs, but a
number of those were so bad as to be good in a laughable, campy sort of
way. And consider this: 22 films at the IMDb site were rated between 6.0/10
& 6.9/10, while 37 were rated between 5.0/10 & 5.9/10, for a total of 59
films; add these to the 9 films rated 7.0/10 & above, that's 68 fair to
excellent films. That's just over one decent sci-fi flick to watch on
average every two months during the entire decade - not bad!
