Inmates: your opinions on Ashley Judd.

I was intoxicated with her beauty when I first saw her play 'Wesley Crusher's girlfriend/academy classmate' on an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. I was impressed with her acting ability in "Ruby In Paradise." But in her recent films I've noticed a false, stage-style broadness to her acting/roles (an acting style like in a Neil Simon romantic comedy). Particularly within this week's viewing of "Someone Like You" (warning: male-bashing chick flick), there is a lack of sincerity in her performance. Hugh Jackson and Marisa Tomei (yikes!) both fare better in this film.

So have I been blinded by her beauty? Did I expect 'Jodie Foster' and end up with 'Julia Roberts' instead? Good actress? Mediocre actress? Or just a victim of the roles she's been in?
