Yes, saw it after the awards. It is worthwhile, if disappointing in some ways. No point picking the nits. I'm sure it's been done repeatedly.

One thing I really admired was the way many of Tolkien's scenes were conceived and brought to life. Memorable: Minas Tirith, Gondor, the sentry warnings on the mountains. Eowen defeating the King of Angmar. Frodo and company climbing the stairs into Mordor. Leaving for the Grey Havens. Ditto for scenes from the earlier pics. While reading Tolkien, I was often troubled by not being able to picture the scenes.
