Yes, but then he will dissolve in tears when he hears the word, "Flic!""The Bicycle Thief" is sad...but "Umberto D" is unbelievably devastating.
de Sica is an incredible director. Orson Welles once said something along the lines of, "What I can do in films I believe no one else can do. But I ran 'The Bicycle Thief' again recently and was amazed. The camera just disappeared and there were no actors, no script...it was just life up there on the screen..."
