I recently rented Richard Linklater's "Before Sunrise" followed up by the currently playing sequal "Before Sunset." These films together are a hopeless romantic's wet dream! I almost consider them too good. In Before Sunrise Ethan Hawke is fairly sublime as a typically moderate guy with some cynicism. Julie Delpy steals the show in my opinion. (although I could be biased being an American male with a fondness for foreign women) She's daring yet sensitive. Intelligent and aware yet with just the right amount of innocence. And funny which in turn makes her very attractive.
In Before Sunset both charaters are older and more guarded. But they regain that wonderful chemistry quickly and take the viewer on a short roller coaster ride of emotional scars and regrets.
