After about an hour I shouted OK, OK, I GET IT! Talk about non subtle. One is literally hammered over the head with its relentless point of view. Well done, but should have been an hour long.
Which leads me to observe that I don't think it is possible for the documentary film maker to not express a point of view. Even the earliest docs, e.g. "Nanook of the North" and "Man of Aran", contain recreations and staging of events. And the very act of editing involves many choices as to what to emphasize. The closet I can think of to a non commentary POV are the films of Frederick Wiseman.
