Takeshi's Zatoichi...

IMO, not even close to Shintaro Katsu, but the story line was appropriate and true to the original concept. Here, there's more killing per minute than in any typical segment of the original series. I enjoyed the familiar and appreciated the differences, but I wonder if there's insufficient story background for first time Zatoichi viewers?

The “cutting” scenes were a bit distracting to me. Particularly the post-production additions of cut skin and blood squirts. Otherwise and overall, I thought the movie was pretty good for the genre and creative with contemporary variations.

A few music sequences were very entertaining, which were presented in a “stomp” like way. Farmers in the field with hoes and builders with construction tools. The celebration “tap” was unique. There's one hilarious “Beat” moment you have to see...
