Deadwood Saturday Night

I gave up on this HBO series last year after they killed off Wild
Bill. Also I found the constant stream of profanity unconvincing,
both in usage and in delivery. (The latter could well be attributed
to poor post-pro.)

Nevertheless, an old film buddy convinced me to watch this season's
premier, which last night I finally did. He spoke of Shakespearean
heighths, which indeed are reached. He spoke of pacing, which indeed
has picked up. He spoke...

Well, now I'll speak: WATCH IT! Or record it.

One more showing -- tonight (Saturday) at 8PM (East).

It's quite the thing. If you're unfamiliar with the characters, just
sit back and relax, you'll still get sufficient out of it. BUT do not
miss the opening review of the previous season.

For those *entirely* unfamiliar with Deadwood, it's set in South
Dakota at the edge of the Black Hills c. 1870. The creators try to
portray the West as she really was, and man is that gritty. 'Course
it *is* cable, so maybe it wasn't the West...

But, watch it.
