Review: Team America World Police

Saw it tonight on my friend's mondo home theater setup.

Right, yeah, review this thing... Well, I think South Park is pretty funny, and the South Park movie was so horrible (as in horrifying) that it was brilliant. This was more hit and miss.

Writing was a bit uneven. The some of the voice acting was clumsy. Pacing was off. Some of the jokes didn't have good follow through.

On the positive side, the action scenes were hilarious, the songs were outstanding ("When you need to show the passage of time, you need a MON-TAGE!") Pretty much the whole movies is a blow at Hollywood and it's cheesy involvement with politics. Of course there were many impersonated celebrities, and of course they die in graphic bloodbaths.

The only thing keeping this from being rated X or NC17 or whatever they call it now, is that the actors are puppets. Pretty much everything that would give a live action movie an X rating is shown. Not for kids or the squeamish. If you like South Park this might be worth a look, otherwise it's an optional watch.

Absolute rating: 55/100 (Bonus 5 points for the hilarious Team America theme song)
