aka Sydney (why'd they change the name?) by Magnolia director Thomas Paul Anderson is a low key, low paced Las Vegas drama centered around some stunning performances from John C. Riley as a naive loser, Gwyneth Paltrow as a loser hooker (she's such an impressive actress!), a mean Samuel L. Jackson and Philip Baker Hall as the enigmatic philanthropist gangster.
No hard rock music, just space enough to let the actors give their best.
Also noted Philip Seymour Hoffman, another great second role actor, giving his all on the craps table.
