Jeffery Rush (Shine) does a superb job of portraying the troubled Genius that was Peter Sellers
I would not recommend this film to anyone unfamiliar with Peter Sellers history or his films, "the Life" simply covers too much ground to fill in any context otherwise
Many well documented incidents of Sellers life are covered, and this is no hagiography; he is shown warts-and-all as a very troubled and disfunctional individual
Film sequences, such as Dr. Strangelove, are recreated with an astonishing level of authenticity; 1960's+ '70's vehicles, furniture, costumes, props and settings are also flawlessly picture postcard correct to their era
Rush plays not only Sellers, but also ala "Faces of Dr. Fu Man Chu" plays almost every other important character in the film; his mother, Stanley Kubrick, Blake Edwards, ex-wives, etc. all get mimicked brilliantly, as Sellers would have done himself, it's a nice touch, + Jeffery Rush makes it work
There's a scene on a plane where Rush/Sellers transforms into the madcap Closeau, this is worth the price of admission alone
