very short Movie Reviews

Narnia: Excellent! 30 years from now this will be a classic and watched every year like the Wizard of Oz.

Syriana: if this were an episode of "Dallas" it would be a very weak episode. Jumps between too many story lines that merely confuse the audience. Difficult to sympathize with any characters. Badly directed.
Was Cloony trying to channel Richard Boucher? I was unimpressed.

Crash: Interestingly the same approach as Syriana that jumps across story lines back and forth, but MUCH better done than Syriana. Well directed. A good movie but not a great movie. May win the Best picture Oscar but I don't think its quite at that level.

Brokeback Mountain: Wonderfully directed and acted. Wonderful cinematography. Having said that, the ending seemed to be "we've taken these characters and this story about as far as then can go. Now how are we going to finish the story?" Probably should win the Oscar but might not.

The Family Stone; Wonderfully acted with a great ensemble cast, this is a really fine movie that didnt get the attention it deserved.

Walk the Line: Too bad it came to an ending in the late 60s. Like Aviator I would like to see the rest of the story in a sequel. Witherspoon did a wonderful job; so did Phoenix.
