Re: Everything is Illuminated short review

I saw it for the second time a couple of days ago, and again was struck by how much of the colorful colloquial language was lost in subtitles. While I could perfectly understand that situation in a movie made in original alnguage for a local audience (French movie in France, Italian in Italy) I do no see the reason to put that much in a film that is made for a non-Russian speaking audience... sounds like a big waste.

Outside of some interesting and funny moments, the rest of the movie was rather plain, I thought. Not a great effort, but I would not go as far as not recommending it. No new grounds broken, no revelations, but not the worst of the recent films either. Entertaining in parts.
