"Save the Green Planet." Yup, another troubling

but very worthwhile film from S. Korea.
A young man passionately believes that aliens have taken over the planet and that he alone can stop them from destroying it. Believing the director of a major chemical plant is the alien leader, he and his plump girlfriend kidnap and subject him to bizarre purifying rituals.
I can't disclose anything else or risk wrecking the joy of discovery.
This is a brilliant first effort from the director. As is the case with many Korean films, you cannot draw simple Hollywood-style "moral lessons" from this complex, disturbing, and altogether original work.
In case I haven't made it clear: don't forego this film thinking it's a polemic on environmentalism... the title unfortunately may give that impression but it is a fitting name for such a black, black comedy.
