Lady In The Water - An Adult Fairy Tale

Not bad. Where has Giamatti been these past decades? We've always needed him. Nobody better personifies the average schlub better than him. Here he plays a schlub who must transcend to greater heights and does it well.

As the super of a decaying apartment building, he discovers a "narf" has been using the pool at night. Slowly a relationship builds between narf and super and the story unfolds around the legend that surrounds her (Ron Howard's daughter, Bryce).

The cast is full of interesting charcters and M.Night does well as a character with a major presence in this ensemble-flavored story that has more humor than horror. (Bob Balaban, without a doubt, has the best scene in the film that ends with a twist.)

This movie lacks the intensity of 6th Sense or Signs but comes across as "spiritual" vehicle with a message of hope.

Part popcorn, part humor, part serious, mostly entertaining.
