"The Ilusionist"

This is by far the best film I have seen in a long time and certcinly the best so far this year. Edward Norton stars as a late nineteenth century master magician and illusionist in Vienna. In an
on stage encounter with a volunteer he remeets his childhood sweetheart (Jessica Biel), now engaged to the Crown Prince (Rufus Sewell. They begin what they think is a secret affair, but all their meetings are under the watchful eye of the Crown Prince's Chief Police Inspector (Paul giamatti) or his men. Both The Crown Prince and the Chief Inspector are fascinated by the illusionist's incresingly complex feats, the policeman out of sheer curiousity and interest in magic and the Crown Prince out of jealousy and a desire to unmask Norton as a fraud (exacerbated by Norton's taunting of Sewell during each performance. The music is by Phillip Glass and adds much to the film. Everything here, writimg, casting, direction, acting, cinematography, location, costuming, and music is top notch and not to be missed. Jighly recommended.
