"The Handmaids Tale" : Comments.

Recently watched this film on video, released I think in 1993 or so. Featuring Robert Duvall and Faye Dunaway; film based on Margaret Atwood
novel about selected women forced to bear children in God's Name in a future mythic country.
I fell asleep watching this dull flick; woke up midway and changed films
to Bruce Lee's "Return Of The Dragon" and enjoyed the climatic battle at
the Roman Coliseum between Bruce and Chuck Norris as "Colt" - the finest
martial arts duel ever filmed, IMO. Of course, Bruce did all the choreography. The fight scenes featuring Bruce are all excellent, especially when he faces multiple thugs alone, armed with a pair of
nunchucks; acting and plot hokey, but if you're a Lee fan, a must see;
the later and much bigger budgeted, "Enter The Dragon" is excellent, the
best overall film of Lee.
Leonard Maltin gave "The Handmaids Tale" a 2&1/2 rating out of 4 *'s;
I don't think I'd have rated it even that high. He said that the film
was "interesting, but best described as sterile". I didn't even find it
interesting. - AH
