Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to provide an interesting exit strategy from this thread without resorting to the consumption of shoe leather! As usual, if you or anyone in your corner are killed or captured by the banal nature of your rhetoric then the moderators will disavow any knowledge of your existence! ;^D

>>> 'in addition to being an "armchair philosopher"......an "armchair film historian"' <<<

Hey, that just goes to show how little you know! I can express my informed opinions standing up as well! ;^)

BTW, why don't you try it sometime? Note: Standing or sitting is OK with me, ...just try to avoid the *ahem* lying! ;O)

>>> "...he thinks the LOTR series are some of the best films in the history of cinema!" <<<

Well, you may not like the epic LoTR series, but they're among the best whether YOU like them or not, and quite a few folks who love this series seem to agree! Where other films may become dated, these won't, and you can take that to the bank.

One observation in respect to epic fantasy: As you're someone who openly supports an over-the-hill geezer for President (as reflected by your sardonic remarks over on the Outside board) I have to admit to being a little surprised that you aren't a rabid fan of myth and fantasy! ;0)

Here's an thought: Since you 'know' so much about film history, please tell us which film series took home more Oscars than any other, including Best Picture and Best Director. Then tell us which films that YOU consider classics (no Googled cheating, please!).

Finally, please post some of your 'brilliant' observations, film criticism and cultural philosophy so that we might bask in the awe inspiring wisdom you possess! ;^>

Ciao,
AuPh
