Re: dlp front projection versus hdtv

a decent dlp unit can do hdtv so that shouldnt change. The real question is whether you see rainbows from a dlp (watch one for a little while youll know if you see them). Not so many people see them but those that do get headaches and cant watch dlp projectors. Also, dlp isnt as bright as lcd but it has much better contrast. do you have decent light control in the room? Can you handle watching tv with the lights always off?

I love my projectors and wouldnt go back to direct view but it isnt for everyone. Check into other projectors than the runco. Very popular brands are NEC, Sharp, and Panasonic as well as a host of others.

For lots more info than you probably want check out the AVS forum

Do not forget there are other expenses in a projector as well. A good screen is important, decent long cables arent cheap, and a new bulb is $300-600 depending on projector (lasts 1000-3000 hours depending on model)
