Sony KV32FV27 remote help needed, please !!

I just purchased this TV and love it. I'm having a small problem and hoping some TV whiz can help me out. I also have an RCA DSS unit and would like to have one of these remotes control everything. When I turned on the unit for the first time yesterday, it seemed the RCA remote would work fine on tuning/changing channels and also adjusting the volume.
Today, my wife gets a hold of the remote and now all I can do with the RCA remote is move the channels up and down. If I want to control the volume, I have to go back to the Sony remote.
Any suggestions or ideas? In the Sony Owner's Manual, it said the codes for RCA DSS remotes are 802 and 808. I tried following the set-up pattern that Sony says to use in the manual, but no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just basically want one remote to operate TV and DSS unit............hopefully this can happen !
