I'm trying to transfer a DVD onto a MiniDV via firewire ports which both of my machines feature. Copies do appear to be virtual clones, but I constantly end up with at least 15% drop in brightness?!
My MiniDV VCR is plugged via composite cables into DVD recorder and the monitor. DVD recorder too is plugged into monitor via similiar cable. Strangely, when I pass copied MiniDV footage through DVD recorder the brightness gets restored. I tried S-VHS cable but the improvement was barely noticeable. None of the DVDs I tried were copy-protected which means something else is at fault. The firewire cable is by Belkin and was purchased at professional PhotoVideo shop.
Would appreciate anybody's thoughts on this.
