Poor black levels (greys instead of true black) and digital artifacts are more important issues as most of these sets still suffer from both. Until you overcome these the resolution and brightness are secondary issues. The Panny 42" doesnt suffer too much from either and its resolution is pretty good though some new Pioneers are better in that regard - but then the Pioneers appear to stumble on black level to my eyes...
