Which DAC am I using?

I have a Yamaha AV and a Sony DVP-NS700V both having a 24bits/96Khz DAC. I have some confusion and hope someone would enlighten me.
1. If I uses optical or coaxial cable to hook both up, am I correct in saying I will be using the Yamaha's DAC?
2. If I uses normal RCA connection, i.e, Sony RCA output into Yamaha's RCA input, which DAC am I using?
3. If I were to use normal RCA 5.1 output of the Sony into the Yamaha's 5.1 input (it will then have to be switch to External Decoder setting), am I 100% correct in saying I will be using the Sony's DAC?
