Do any cheap HDTV set-top boxes exist??

I was looking to pickup a set-top box for recieving all those free HDTV signals floating all around my area. What is the best options for boxes with component video out for non-HDTV Sony Wega's.
Looking for something cheap, it isn't worth $700 set-top box just for saving $20 a month on cable.
