Re: Adcom HT pre/pros in stereo mode

I may be a lousy source, but I did have the GTP 750 for a while. I ahd nothing but trouble with it, and ended up selling it. As a 2 channel processor, it was OK at best. Adcom, at the time they were producing the 750, was playing catch-up with the rest of the marketplace, and the lack of quality showed. They may have suffiiently caught up with the 830, but I haven't been back to Adcom to check them out.

Regarding 2 channel, I think what many have found it that home theater systems are great for home theater, and music systems are great for music, but finding one system that does both equally well is a challenge. HT speakers, for example, are designed to accomodate the riggors or producing movie soundtracks, not to capture the delicacies of recorded music.

Now all of that said, there are exceptions, but if cost is a factor, or space limitations don't allow for having 2 systems (one dedicated to music and one dedicated to HT), then you might find yourself making compromises.
