HELP!!! I need a new DVD player already!!!!!!

As some of you are aware, the Sony DVD-S360 is one of the biggest let down on the market (dare I say a total PEICE OF CRAP, as comfirmed by the amount of reviews at audio review.com)! I now know- mine died last night right in the middle of a movie (Topsy Turvy- great pic, BTW).
So here's what I need-
A DVD player for under $300 that will play CD-R, has good reliability (of course!), and if I'm not asking for too much, play DVD-A discs (not mandatory, but that would be a nice feature).
Progressive scan is not that important yet as my TV cannot accept it, although it will do 16x9.
HELP! I just want to continue watching movies! I'll be shopping this Saturday, so lets hear what you guys have and like!
