best DVD players, for video, under $1K?

TVs, VCRs, DVD players, Home Theater systems and more.

On the basis of video quality, only, what are the strongest sub-$1K DVD players, and why? I care quite a bit about good deinterlacing, BTW.
I have no concerns for audio performance or features (e.g. toslink vs. coax, SACD, DVD-A, jitter, etc.), since I live in an apartment with fairly noise-sensitive neighbors.
