If you only have an S-video in on your TV . . .

Just use an S-video cable from source to monitor. It's the best solution, not to mention the easiest.

Difference between S-video and component is negligible on small (32" or less) sets, minor on medium (36-43") and only fairly noticeable once you get to 50" or more. I have a 47" Panasonic HDTV-capable RPTV, and the S-video was just fine. The component cables just gave me slightly more vivid colors and a little bit sharper picture . . .
