Rotel Receiver and Denon DVD

I have a Denon DVD 3800 and have chance to combine with the Rotel RSX 972 as the HT receiver. Is this a bad idea? Should I just look to purchase a Denon HT receiver, such as the AVR 3802? The Rotel is well reviewed, however, there may be benefit in Denon DVD-to-Denon HT receiver via synergy that would not be available from Denon DVD to Rotel HT receiver. Thanks for the advice.
