Panasonic CV32, lists around $150, currently available at BB and CC and other mass marketers for $119. Good basic player, will last longer than utter crap like Apex, should tide you over until you're ready for prgressive - then you can stash it with the bedroom TV.
Spend the $20 extra bucks so your player won't freeze at DVD layer changes. If you go less than 100 you'll be replacing within a year.
