nobody wants to talk about is exactly what you are experiencing.
A business associate of mine lives in UTah at about 6000 feet and asked me the question- would plasma work?
I asked every major mfg and they all scratched their heads and swore they would get back to me- no one ever did.
I cornered some engineers from Panasonic at last years CES, the American ones translated to Japanese for them, still no response.
My suspicion based on face to face reaction is they just don't want to talk about it.
