I can't help wondering if there is a setup problem with your system. Have you used a RS sound pressure meter to set all the levels? If you are finding that Pro-logic doesn't cut it, can you run your system in straight stereo? Some preamp/processors allow for 5 speaker stereo, is there such a setting on your unit?
