Some people prefer Toshiba, some people prefer Sony. I've had both. There are issues and virtues with both brands. Sonys, especially, have had geometry problems, but all flat screen direct views are prone to this to some extent. What's your budget? What features do you want? What kind of programming and sources will you be watcing?

I recently got my Dad a 27", but the best deal was on a Panasonic, so that's what I got him. He loves it, and it looks very good. Philips also makes an excellent 27", and you can sometimes get an astonishing deal on Philips TVs through Harton Innovations. (I got the 34PW9818 34" direct view widescreen HDTV (List $2600) for $1550 delivered.

Go to www.avsforum.com for lots of info on direct view TVs.
