Can an SPL meter be used to adjust phase?

209.77.148.7

Here's my situation: I have a Servo 15 sub and Studio 100 mains, with a Studio cc and Studio adp's for the rear. I'm getting the Avia disc and an spl meter to adjust all the speakers. The Servo 15 has a box that contains a phase adjustment. I've never been able to hear the subtle changes that would enable me to set the phase. So what I'm wondering is whether I can use the spl meter to find the point at which the sub and the other speakers are in phase. Reason tells me that when the phase adjustment is perfect, the db level should go up. Is that true? In other words, will there be a measurable spike on the spl meter when the phase dial is adjusted correctly?
