More gain should not mean less resolution. The quality of the picture will be different from screen to screen, especially in how they handle color as luminance is very strongly tied to how those colors are reproduced.Every screen is going to result in a compromise. If you do some poking around on AVSForum, you'll find several threads by a guy who has compared a couple dozen different screens, including some DIY types, professional screens, and professional paint applications to get proper reflectivity. Those are very telling... there's also a lot of discussion about them. Check it out.
