i have the same problem...it's random for me. this explains my problem perfect. i was going to try it, but before i could, my tv started smoking, and i lost my tuner last night. now im going to bring it in.....QUESTION NO. P13-9:
Sony KV25-XBR TV begins to boot, but no picture; led stays in sleep mode.
Re-solder 9 volt regulator, IC581, also check solder on 582 & 901. IF, set has HV but no pict/no sound, check R1651 on "D" board it might be open.
