I have both a Sony DVP-NS500V (SACD & DVD-Video) and a Pioneer DV-563A (SACD, DVD-Video and DVD-Audio) and I like them both. The Pioneer only comes in silver, and the Sony in black (it is discontinued, but there are replacements). If I was to keep one of them, it would be the Pioneer. The Sony is a decent player, probably better sounding with SACD, but I really like the little Pioneer unit. Don't worry about the firmware issue. Apparently it is resolved and Pioneer offers a 3 year firmware warranty anyway. The Sony remote though, is MUCH better than the Pioneer (which is pretty much garbage) ... if that matters.
