But my two cents are:

1) Rear projection LCD TVs suffer from dismal blacks. The best you'll get is gray . . .
2) LCOS was launched and crash landed in 2003. If they fixed the bugs, more power to them. But it remains to be seen if LCOS offers anything that is competitive with other technologies.
3) The Samsung DLP is (probably) the best of the rear projection technologies--by far IMO. You do have to sometimes live with a shimmering effect, but many are not distracted by this.

Texas Instruments continues to improve the DLP technology, resulting in a better picture. There should be a new generation (is it third?) coming out later this year--if you can wait.
