Surge protection or signal corruption?

Does anyone have any experience with the Panamax MAX INWALL modules for signal connection between source and display panel? They seem to provide both surge protection (on the signal lines as well as AC) but an installer says that the insertion of additional connections will corrupt the signal and that surge protection on signal lines is unneccessary. Any comments?
