Well, I had the chance to compare to Charter Cables HD box.

HD seemed a bit sharper with cable even though it was only a component cable feed. I made a perhaps unfortunate mistake committing to Dishnetwork for the next few months, but I wil be tempted to go back to cable soon. Except now I have a dual tuner with independent remotes for 2 TVs (independent of the HD receiver.

I now have a new respect for digital cable, or at least with the cable hd receiver. Story might be different if Dishnetwork comes up with a better HD receiver. I'm feeding a 110" screen so I think I'm asking a lot out of the source. Need to get a much better DVD source.

I'll agree I'm disappointed with dish SD broadcast. Also, I got the the OTA antenna recently and the HD feed ain't half bad, too bad I've never been able to get the local PBS feed.
