I have a mish mash of good new and used high end equipment. Last night, before watching Pirates of the Carribean, I ran the THX calibration tests.
Most my HT stuff aside from the Toshiba 1700 DVD player , dates from the early 90's. There was some channel leakage, due to my using a Shure HTS logic decoder.
However I was startled that my 1990 RCA monitor did so well and required only some adjustment on tint and contrast.
So it makes me wonder if these are really that accurate, or just bells and whistles so they can charge more.
Still plan on getting a widescreen this year. I'll wait for the surround format war to die down before I go digital.
