Problem with cables ???

I replaced the power cord and the component cable on my TV, the image with cabletv is much better, but with DVD, something strange happens, the image is great with movies, cartoons...
But when I play concerts with backlight and light beams, they kind of override everything, detail blurs and the colours change, those beam lights look the same as in cartoons, a coloured triangle in the dark background, instead of just making things they light glow...
What is going on, I seem to have seem this effect in my brotherÂ´s Sony Alis plasma, but to a lesser degree...
