Front Projection screen wall texture

Gentlemen,

I am an audio nut, but not very smart about home theater stuff. I would really appreciate some advice in this matter.

I spoke with a fine old carpenter today that specializes in plaster work. He will transform the controured block wall in my basement into a nice even wall. The brick will disspear behind the plaster. This wall will be used for a front projection camera. The wall's plaster finish texture can either be sand or flat. The sand texture is similar to 80 grit sandpaper. The flat texture is similar to sheetrock. Which texture is perferrable for a projection surface.

I found several insights online regarding paint. It seems the Sherwin Williams ProMar 400 is a decent econo paint, and goo seems to be the high-zoot paint of choice.

Any insight you might offer regarding the wall's finish texture would be very helpful.

Thanks,

David Ellis
