Hey Jon - thanks for the reply - it makes sense.

Yes - I am an audio guy & would see no reason to connect the dvd/recorder/satellite audio to the monitor (in this case a projector that probably doesn't even offer audio). However I worry about connecting these different sources to a reciever or pre/pro - is there any concern about signal degregation? Wouldn't it be better to connect the source directly to the monitor if at all possible?

By the way, aren't HDMI connectors smaller in size than DVI? That would provide some advantage, especially if running cable through a conduit.
